Maasai Mara Game Drive 1
Our final game drives…we had two goals: spot a leopard and spot a cheetah. We had seen almost everything else.
We're not certain how this hippo happened to be up so high.
We must have watched for 15 minutes as she scouted the best was to get down to the water.
But, she finally made it. Her agility climbing down the bank was amazing.
Not sure what this lion was looking for, but he looked lost.
We then found two young males just laying around. Don't see the second one, I don't either, but he is around.
The young male from another angle.
This is a different adult male lion in the same area. We weren't sure if he was searching for the first male because they were separated, or if he was threatened by the presence of the first lion.
The first lion just sat down on a termite hill.
Both the lion and the giraffe seemed to be concerned about the second male.
A marker showing the border between Kenya and Tanzania. On one side you are in the Maasai Mara, on the other you're in the Serengeti.
You can see the line of wildebeests making their way in the great migration at the top of this photo.
One of the typical crossing places for the great migration on the Mara River. Unfortunately, nothing was crossing while we were there.
Two Topi.
And we finally found a Cheetah, unfortunately so did about 30 other vehicles.
If you don't look carefully, you may think we saw a two-headed giraffe.

Hippos in the Mara.
The truck in front is stuck. He was supposed to take the long way around. I'm guessing now he wished he had. The Land Rover just barely squeezed by...and then we followed.
Maasai Mara Game Drive 2
Our final game drive. After seeing the cheetah, our only goal was to spot a leopard.
As we were leaving our lodge, the very, very young gazelle crossed our road. With no mother in sight, it probably didn't make it through the night.
We came across these elephants, and the young one was trying to act tough indicating that he didn't like our presence.
But, sister came to settle him down.
Jackal
Our final lion pride. These rocks looked out over the savannah, and I imagine this is where Mufasa tells Simba about how "someday all of this will be yours."
This cub was interested in something...
...turns out this herd of impalas had no idea of the lions nearby.
And the sun set on our Kenya Safari.
