Ol Pajeta Conservancy

“The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 km² (138.9 mi²) not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya's Laikipia County. It is situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya.” Wikipedia

After about a four-hour drive we arrived at the Ol Pajeta Conservancy. This was our first experience with the Kenyan roads, to say they were rough would be an understatement. Swerving to avoid potholes and slowing down for the many speed humps was a new experience for many of us. We also got to experience how Kenyans make two lanes going in one direction into five lanes, it was interesting.

We drove directly to our accommodations for the next two nights, The Sweetwaters Serena Camp, a very luxurious tented lodge situated on the equator. We had lunch and then settled into our tents where we had views of the watering hole that attracted all kinds of wildlife at all hours of the day and night. The wildlife in the pictures below were taken from the deck in front of my tent.
